  24. Actually, some will debate whether you need to defrag under NT.  Executive
  25. Software who has DiskKeeper, an NT defragger for both NTFS and FAT, claims
  26. defragging your drive CAN increase performance of your file system,
  27. especially if you're dealing with a system that has been around a while and
  28. the drive has seen heavy use.  Having used DiskKeeper, I do notice some
  29. speed increases in file access on my NTFS partition (especially after
  30. converting the partition from FAT to NTFS).  The downfall to DiskKeeper is
  31. that for every release of NT Microsoft pumps out, due to the way DiskKeeper
  32. is embedded into the system, Executive Software must come up with a new
  33. release too.  After getting the version that worked with 3.51 sp 1,
  34. Microsoft pumped out service pack 2 and now I can't use DiskKeeper until
  35. E.S. pumps out a new release.  Not that my system sees heavy use...  If I
  36. were creating many animations sent directly to my drive (moving them around,
  37. deleting frames, ect), then perhaps I could see a need for DiskKeeper.
